Top 5 slow cooked meals for winter

In Australia, the weather is getting colder outside. The one comfort I love about Winter is slow cooked meals. Nothing warms you up like a slow cooked meal on a cold winter day.

Not only does it warm you up, but slow cooking is so convenient. You place all your ingredients into your pot or tray and a few hours later ‘ecco fatto’ (it’s done) – a beautiful hearty winter meal. Here are my top 5 favourite slow cooked meals for winter that your whole family will enjoy. These dishes are also sure to impress your guests.

Cook the lovely and rich slow cooked beef short ribs in red wine sauce served with creamy mashed potato or show your love for someone by cooking them a slow roasted crispy pork belly – a family favourite. There is also brodo di carne (beef soup) with farfalline pasta – a dish that you cannot cook too much of in winter and the kids love it. My final picks for winter warming are the succulent Braised lamb shanks with mushroom ragù and Osso Bucco alla Milanese which is served with a rich and creamy saffron-infused Risotto alla Milanese – happy cooking.
