Welcome to Italian Spoon

Hi everyone and welcome to the Italian Spoon website. I am so excited to share the first Italian Spoon Blog. My name is Vanessa Bottaro, owner and cofounder of the Italian Spoon website, together with my husband Simone Bottaro (which is the Italian name for Simon).

The idea to develop the Italian Spoon website came to me about 18 months ago. The past 12 months have been very busy to say the least. Between looking after our 2 beautiful children and creating the content for the website, we have gone through many exciting challenges and learning opportunities to finally deliver a wonderful product for everyone to enjoy – the essential www.Italianspoon.com.au website, where you can get Italian recipes, inspiration and ideas to cook great Italian meals.

We are so blessed to have a wonderful family and the opportunity to do what we love most – cook and eat Italian food. The best part in developing the Italian Spoon website has been the cooking and tasting of our recipes. During this process, no food has ever or will ever go to waste.

Simone and I have worked hard to provide a free website with great-tasting Italian recipes. You will find the traditional Italian classics and our own modern twist on Italian favourites that we know you’ll love. You may also wish to share them with your friends and family.
Become an Italian Spoon member and use ‘My Meal Plan’ and start planning your weekly meals, saving you time and money. You can also save your favourite or frequently used recipes for convenience and create a useful shopping list to shop for the ingredients. Italian Spoon members also have the option of subscribing to our monthly newsletter, published on the first Friday of the month. The newsletter will reveal the latest and trending recipes. It also has links to most recent Italian Spoon blogs published about Italian food and travel. Blog posts will be published on the Italian Spoon website under News & Stories once per week, on a Friday.

An integral part of getting the Italian Spoon brand out there is social media. We look forward to connect with you on the Italian Spoon Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest pages.

The blogs coming up in the month of July are:
– The Real Spaghetti Carbonara
– Top 5 slow cooked meals for winter
– Quick and easy weekday meals – top 5 dishes you can prepare in less than 30 minutes
– 7 days of eating on a budget

We are counting down to our next Italian escape. In 4 weeks we are leaving the Australian winter behind us and travelling to Florence, Sicily and Rome. We will post photos of our travels on social media. Stay tuned for more News & Stories from Italian Spoon – ciao for now.

Author, Founder and Creative Director at Italian Spoon
In my eyes, Italian cuisine is love on a plate.

Vanessa is Creative Director of the Italian Spoon website and Author of The Italian entertaining cookbook, a collection of home-style Italian recipes and tips for entertaining in true Italian-style. In addition to cooking and taking photographs, Vanessa writes the recipes and blogs to bring the love of Italian cooking to life! The collection of recipes and blogs on the website have been inspired by travels to Italy and desire to share what she has learnt from the great ‘Mamma’s and ‘Nonna’s in her life!

Vanessa is an entrepreneur and wife to husband Simone and the mother of two beautiful kids Dante and Mia. Even so she was born and lives in Melbourne Australia, Vanessa has a deep connection to Italy. Perhaps it is the food, or maybe it is because it is the place where Vanessa met the love of her life, Simone to whom she has been happily married for so many years.
